Our History
Founded by George Moore, Tough Terrain began with a single Menzi Muck spider excavator. A well-placed Facebook advert led to a breakthrough project in West Auckland, revealing a market need for high-access excavation services. Since then, Tough Terrain has evolved from a one-man operation into a leading company servicing both the North and South Islands.
Our Team and Training
Our success is built on a highly trained team. Every project is managed by a two-person team—an experienced operator paired with an apprentice. We’ve developed a rigorous training programme that includes 20-unit standards with examinations and video demonstrations, ensuring each apprentice completes at least six months of hands-on training before qualifying. This commitment to training, along with our stringent health and safety practices, ensures every project meets our high standards and reflects our dedication to excellence and fair pay for our team.
